Really been neglecting my blog recently! I’ve been mainly working in my sketchbooks as I’m currently working on a lot of visual stuff, which is waiting to be scanned for web upload! Here’s a little sneak preview of my mobilization / tablet design on layout paper for perfect positioning! I used tracing paper so i can slide in different layout / design idea’s …

Been really lapsed on the my blog recently, but I do have a lot of work to post up! After working with a lot of info-graphics on my previous projects i found this rather apt / amusing!
SKILLS - An image that represents the skills I have. Produced for my context 3 assignment, only 4 more to go!
So after finally sorting out everything, I realized apart from the 5 images i need to create I have a lottttt of writing to do. I created a little origami piece to up my motivation, which displays my future 3rd year projects.

So here is the link for the Alumni Project, I created my own interactive CSS3 bar chart. I also implemented some CSS3 transitions into my graphics to create the flip effect on the third article. I am impressed with the general look and feel of this site. Please view it in a HTML5 valid browser, preferably Google Chrome or Safari otherwise the site will not work properly!!!
After sketching out some simple ideas I had a clear idea in my head of what I wanted to create. So I then went to create some wireframes so I knew how to position my content on the site.

So I’ve been ridiculously lapsed with my blog lately. Gonna do some real Image heavy post’s so be careful you low bandwidthers!
So after taking a look over the brief I decided to create a One Page Interactive Website, to raise awareness for the NTU Alumni Cancer Research Center. I thought the best way to go around this would be to create an Infographics Website. I wanted to create a One Page site as the user could freely navigate without re-direction between pages, and also to keep the site lightweight to improve loading time. I then used the ScrollTo jQuery plugin to create the scrolling effect between articles.
Seeing as the Alumni already have an informative site (which is very dated) I thought that creating an up to date informative site would be a good promotional tool for the Alumni. So I coded the website in HTML 5 & CSS3. The site is also valid to W3 Standards.
First of all I started to look into color schemes for my website.

So I decided to go for the White/Grey/Blue/Pink colorscheme, quite neutral but also some nice tones in my opinion.
I then went on to look into the pros and cons of a vertically or horizontally scrolling website.

The reason I chose the horizontally scrolling site was because I felt that I could utilize the space better, also hoping to scale it for the iPad too! I then went on to do a simple sketch to play around with content on the landing article.

I then went on to draw out a few sketches of the infographics I wanted to create. Just some simple ideas.

Typeface.
Being a corporate project there will be an issue with the text on the website. I’ll have to make sure to use a large clear set typeface that can be easily readable by all age groups. I’m choosing to use the font Klavika as its a nice clean font, that is also easily readable.
So for out first simulated client project we have to create an Interactive peice for the NTU Alumni, we were given the chance to be quite open with this project in which route we decided to go down. Whether it being a Flash animation, a 3D render / animation or a website / phone app.
I chose to create a side scrolling 1 page information graphics site, to raise awareness of the fatalities of cancer and also to show what the Alumni do when it comes to cancer research.
I think an interactive information graphics site could work really well for this project, as it gives me the chance to be really creative with my graphics and also the way content is displayed on the site.
Here are some really nice information graphics examples I have found (Non interactive)

Not long until i’m going into 3rd year now! I’ve been mainly skating and filming for the past few weeks now (mixed media experience!) need to become a beast at video editing!
Heres a few screens! (:

So apart from updating my website i’ve been slacking on the web/graphics work. Need to get myself back into gear, especially with 3rd year approaching (sh#tting it!)
Luckily I got to go visit my family in Boston, MA (Usa) which was too sick, went on a little trip to Montreal (Canada) which was amazing too!
Here’s a few pics from my journeys.

Found this site which is the MANLY version of lorem ipsum, seeing as real men eat MEAT this is the perfect site for manly web designers/devolpers.
